Not just one thing. The whole book Is fantastic. - Amazon Customer Review

Anyone interested in learning more about the history of the American West will appreciate this book trilogy. These three books follow Jemmey Fletcher through his journey as a trapper in the late 1830s. In book one, Jemmey finds out the realities of the west as he travels with a pack train bound for rendezvous. He must learn to endure hardship, starvation, Indian attacks, and other trappers as he tries to carve a place for himself as a raw youth.

In book two, Jemmey heads to the mountains with veteran trapper George Washington Blackburn for his first winter as a trapper. While the fur trade is in decline, Jemmey must make a good beaver catch to pay the debts he incurred at rendezvous. Things don’t go according to plan, and soon the two trappers find themselves robbed and on the run with winter closing in. As the snow flies, both men will be pushed to their limits in this story of winter wilderness survival.

Book three follows Jemmey as he guides a group of emigrants across the Oregon Trail. After the fur trade collapsed in the late 1830s, trappers made a living by offering their knowledge of the west to pioneers. Although at first Jemmey is concerned with the annoyances of guiding greenhorns across the continent, he soon finds out just how much trouble a wagon train can be. Whether it is hurricane-force winds, the endless miles of grinding trail, or the treacherous rivers along the way, danger seems to lurk around every corner.

Each book contains questions, video extensions, primary sources, and living history activities so you can learn more about the time period as you read. Great for public school and home school teachers, the Jemmey Fletcher books can engage students and present factual information in a more entertaining way. Stories have always been the best way to learn, and even hard to reach students will enjoy the action. Even if you are past school age, but enjoy stories of the American frontier, you’ll appreciate these historically accurate and entertaining tales of the American West.
